HELP OUR VISION BECOME A REALITY
Your financial support allows USP to sustain programs that benefit the Union Square-14th Street district, including Union Square Park, and the millions of people that visit each year. By making a donation, you will improve our thriving, vibrant community through a number of programs and services.
HOW PAST CONTRIBUTIONS HAVE IMPACTED OUR WORK
1. GREENING OUR MALLS
With your support, we overhauled the medians along Union Square East and Park Avenue South with eighty new columnar trees, and thousands of perennials and shrubs.
2. DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC ART
Working with our partners, we brought Chihuly Studio’s eye-catching Rose Crystal Tower to the Square for a year-long installation as part of the 50th Anniversary of NYC Parks’ public art program. Past public art installations have included Lionel Smit’s Morphous, Beverly Pepper’s My Circle, and Rob Pruit’s The Andy Monument.
3. BRIGHTER PARK LIGHTING
We’ve upgraded park lighting with seventy brighter, energy-efficient LED bulbs to provide greater illumination at night, and work with our partners at NYC Parks to keep Union Square shining year-round.
4. MORE FREE EVENTS
We now offer more complimentary community programming than ever before including fitness classes for all ages, children's activities, live music and dance performances, sustainability-focused volunteer days, holiday pet programming, and two incredible movie nights.
5. ENHANCED LANDSCAPING
Funds raised are vital to the upkeep of Union Square Park's landscaping. We invest in reseeding of the lawn, seasonal plantings in the park, as well as maintaining over one hundred planters throughout the area.
6. EVEN MORE PUBLIC SEATING
Union Square Partnership periodically purchases new pieces of outdoor furniture to upgrade the seating areas in the park and public plazas. Our Clean Team manages the areas with extended hours during the warmer months, and we recently worked with NYC Parks to unveil a brand new West Side Seating Area.
